Rekha Gupta handed over appointment letters to 1,368 newly appointed teachers at a state-level ceremony at Bharat Mandapam, including 1,015 TGTs, 236 PGTs and 117 music teachers taking the total number of teachers appointed in 2026 to over 2,100, following 751 appointments made in April-May earlier this year. Rekha Gupta inaugurated the 'Arpan Kendra' at Punjabi Bagh West Metro Station, launching a first-of-its-kind initiative in collaboration with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and the Delhi Metro Ladies Welfare Organisation to collect, reuse, recycle and upcycle old clothes at 10 major Metro stations across the capital. In the first phase, Arpan Kendras were simultaneously launched at five stations - Shalimar Bagh, Punjabi Bagh West, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, Shahdara and Rohini West.Citizens can donate usable old garments through a QR code-based digital system at textile collection-cum-sale kiosks installed at each Metro station, receiving a digital receipt upon donation to ensure transparency and encourage wider public participation. Women's self-help groups will play a central role in operating the centres and managing collection, segregation, recycling and upcycling of garments - creating new opportunities for dignified livelihoods and self-employment while strengthening Delhi's circular economy. Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta officially launched the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana at the District Magistrate's office in East Delhi, inaugurating the online registration portal at www.dly.delhi.gov.in, under which eligible women between 21 and 60 years of age with a family annual income not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh will receive ₹2,500 every month - benefiting nearly 17 lakh women across the capital over an initial three-year period.Beneficiaries can choose between two financial options - the first allowing ₹1,000 monthly in a CBDC wallet for daily expenses and ₹1,500 in an RD/FD account, and the second depositing the full ₹2,500 in an RD/FD for long-term savings with interest. A digital negative list will restrict CBDC wallet spending on alcohol, tobacco, gambling and other prohibited items, ensuring assistance is used only for essential household needs. Every application will undergo four-stage verification covering Aadhaar authentication, Delhi voter registration, income assessment, electricity consumption, vehicle ownership and government service records before sanction, with District-Level Approval, Monitoring and Grievance Redressal Committees headed by District Magistrates overseeing implementation across all 13 districts.CM Rekha Gupta said the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana goes beyond monthly financial assistance — connecting beneficiaries with self-help groups, skill development, entrepreneurship training and government programmes including APAAR ID, ABHA ID, Swachh Bharat Mission and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam — reaffirming that the scheme is not merely a welfare initiative but a comprehensive movement for women's dignity, financial security and social transformation in Delhi.
